The following is part one of a multi-part series on The KHA Way, KHA Management Consulting’s Integrated Service Offering. This blog series includes the benefits of using KHA Management Consulting Services and the components included.

Have you had success in your business, but you do not know how to breakthrough and would prefer not to learn the hard way; or worse, allow what you have built to go stagnant? You need a trusted partner who can guide you through what’s next.

KHA Management Consultants helps you unlock your potential by tapping into our breadth of trusted expertise, innovative solutions, and a clear path forward. Our team, as your trusted experts, will work diligently to understand your goals and your preferred path into the future. Knowing this context about your business will further allow for innovative solutions to be developed that are tailored to your organization, your team, and the current environment for change management. This will lead to a clear path forward that will envelop you and your team’s goals.

Through ‘The KHA Way’, leaders will receive our full suite of services, to get their organization to the best possible position. Our KHA Way Methodology begins with an initial scoping phase, which entails an introductory meeting, a discovery assessment, and a discovery session where 4 to 6 key leaders of the organization all gather offsite (typically at KHA offices) to discuss the business in depth. At times, immediate help can be provided through our fractional CFO services, transaction assistance, or executive coaching. However, typically the scope document resulting from the initial scoping phase will detail our recommended next steps. Most often our recommended next steps are covered in the four primary pillars of our integrated consulting offering: Accounting Visibility, Personnel Positioning, Corporate Strategy, and Process Alignment.

Accounting Visibility Consulting Offering: We work to understand your business, your organizational and personal goals, and begin to design/define your information needs. We work with your internal accounting team to revise your chart of accounts to align your financial statements with your reporting needs, to prepare a usable operating budget, and to prepare a management dashboard that showcases your most relevant measures of success on one easy to understand page.

Personnel Positioning Consulting Offering: We evaluate your organizational chart to clarify lines of authority and verify your organization is best positioned to meet market needs. Additionally, assessments are performed with your leadership team, compensation benchmarking is completed, and job descriptions are revised or formalized giving insight into where your organization and people stand.

Corporate Strategy Consulting Offering: We help you refine or define your business’ vision, values, and what you do best. From there, a 10-year target is set, and alignment exercises are completed that probe into your process, your promise, and your distinctive competencies. These exercises set the stage for 5-year change missions, 1-year plan, and quarterly targets.

Process Alignment Consulting Offering: Your processes and procedures are evaluated, documented, and reengineered for internal control or efficiency purposes. Also, within this pillar is KHA’s cornerstone consulting offering, the Incentive Compensation Plan. This includes setting Key Performance Indicators for your business, its departments, and its individuals for effective tracking, reward, and evaluation of progress.

Once completed with the ‘KHA Way’, your success cycle continues as we provide you timely and pointed strategic advice for your organization on an ongoing basis that makes sense for you and your team.

In each of the phases of the ‘KHA Way’, our deliverables are well informed, directional, and reviewed with you. However, much of your gain is the process of working towards those deliverables. Many times, our process is where the value is reaped, found, and direction is set. During this process, you have us as a trusted partner. We will hold you accountable through the seasons to come based on the commitments you have made. We believe this gives you and your team the best possible chance to be successful.

At KHA Management Consultants, we work with mid-market industry leaders to identify what makes the organization, its stakeholders, and its’ employees tick. We facilitate the Discovery/Scoping process with your organization’s key constituents to ensure buy-in, ownership, and a new way of thinking about the organization and its stakeholders amongst all levels. From a resource perspective, we primarily use our unmatched experience but also tap into the top-level resources such as those made available by Harvard Business Review, Relevant Strategic Management Authors, and MentorPlus. Some of those materials, frameworks, and lessons have been used in authoring this series.

When “Creative” Tax Deductions Invite the IRS to Your Door

What do an arsonist’s fee, a family dog, and a backyard fallout shelter have in common? They’ve all been claimed as tax deductions — and they all earned the kind of IRS attention no taxpayer wants. While most people aren’t pushing the limits quite that far, the truth is that questionable deductions don’t have to be outrageous to trigger an audit.

Are Taxes Driving Americans to Pack Up and Move?

Millions of Americans are moving — and tax burdens are part of the equation. New IRS data shows high-tax states like California and New York are losing billions in taxable income to no-income-tax states like Florida and Texas. The numbers tell a compelling story.

What Business Owners Must Know About Net Operating Loss Rules in 2025 and Beyond

The pandemic-era flexibility is gone, and the One Big Beautiful Bill has locked in the TCJA’s NOL rules for the foreseeable future. If your business is still planning around old assumptions — like the ability to carry losses back or fully offset taxable income — it’s time for a reset. Here’s what you need to know heading into 2025 and beyond.

Texas Limited Partners Get Good News from the Fifth Circuit — But Don’t Skip the Planning

If you are a limited partner in a Texas-based business, a January 2026 federal court ruling just changed the rules in your favor — and the savings could be significant. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit rejected the IRS’s long-standing “passive investor” test and ruled that any partner in a limited partnership with genuine limited liability qualifies for the self-employment tax exemption under IRC Section 1402(a)(13) — even if you actively work in the business. With self-employment tax running as high as 15.3%, the financial impact of this ruling can be substantial. But the law is still unsettled outside Texas, and the details matter. Read on to find out what this means for your tax strategy and what steps you should be taking right now.
